Micronesia, officially the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), is made up of more than 600 islands scattered across the western Pacific Ocean. Pohnpei is the largest island in the Federated States of Micronesia and the administrative center of Pohnpei State. It lies in the western Pacific and is known for its mountainous interior, dense tropical vegetation, and high rainfall. The island is surrounded by a barrier reef and numerous small islets, creating a landscape of forested slopes, mangroves, rivers, and coastal waters.

Weno is the largest island and administrative center of Chuuk State in the Federated States of Micronesia. It lies within the sheltered Chuuk Lagoon, a vast body of water enclosed by a surrounding reef and scattered with many smaller islands. Weno contains the state capital and serves as the main center for government, commerce, transportation, and services in the Chuuk Islands.
