Kotor
This coastal town in Montenegro is part of the World Heritage Site dubbed the Natural and Culturo-Historical Region of Kotor. It holds several summer events, such as the Summer Carnival or Bokeljska Noc. One of the most notable and charming aspects of the town is the large population of cats that have become a symbol of the city.
Cook Islands
The Cook Islands, a group of 15 islands scattered across the South Pacific, offer a rare blend of Polynesian tradition and laid-back island charm. Rarotonga, the largest and most visited island, is ringed by a turquoise lagoon and backed by lush mountains. Visitors can circle the entire island in under an hour, stopping along the way for fresh coconut, beachside cafés, or a quick swim in the clear lagoon.
Padua
Padua, a hidden gem in Northern Italy’s Veneto region, is a city where medieval splendor meets a vibrant modern atmosphere. Known for its ancient university, founded in 1222, Padua is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the world, having nurtured the minds of great scholars like Galileo Galilei.
Pamplona
Pamplona, the capital of Spain’s Navarre region, is best known worldwide for the Running of the Bulls during the San Fermín festival each July. But beyond the brief rush of that event lies a city steeped in medieval history, Basque influence, and a slower pace that surprises many visitors. One of the most significant aspects of Pamplona is its place on the Camino de Santiago, the ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.
Victoria
British influences are quite evident in Victoria, from afternoon tea times to elegant Victorian architecture. This capital of British Columbia on Vancouver Island provides ample outdoor recreation, with its public parks and access to both the ocean and wilderness. Cyclists will be right at home here, as Victoria boasts a seemingly endless number of bike paths for exploring.
Foz do Iguaçu
Set at the meeting point of Brazil and Argentina, Foz do Iguaçu is defined by the sheer scale of the Iguaçu Falls. Nearly 275 individual waterfalls stretch across close to three kilometers, sending mist into the air and sound echoing through the surrounding forest. Visitors follow raised walkways that bring them face to face with this moving wall of water, culminating at the dramatic Devil’s Throat, a deep, curved drop where the river seems to vanish into the earth.
